How lessons are taught

Healthy technique, always tailored.

Katie believes every voice is unique and that singing is never a one size fits all experience. Lessons build range, endurance, breath technique, tone, agility, musical interpretation, mic technique and confidence, taught in an encouraging and positive way, without intimidation. Styles include Musical Theater, Classical, CCM, Jazz, Pop and Rock.

Do online lessons actually work?
Yes. Technique, repertoire coaching, musicianship and audition preparation all translate well virtually. Katie has taught students this way for years, including most of her Bay Area studio as well as those nationally and internationally. A quiet room, good lighting, a decent microphone and device for our Zoom are all you need.
What ages and levels do you teach?
Ages 12 and up, from complete beginners through advanced singers. Her studio is quite diverse from youngsters to teens preparing for college, to adults prepping for performances, concerts and recording sessions, to singer-songwriters, to opera chorus members, to the non-music major in college who loves to sing, to that CEO who needs to work on that ideal speaking voice.
How often are lessons?
Most students take a weekly lesson at a reserved time slot. Adults sometimes prefer drop-ins or a short run of lessons before a specific audition or event.
